Legal Assistance - Main Office

Equip for Equality provides free or low-cost legal assistance related to housing, including eviction prevention, issues related to self-determination, tenants' rights, preserving housing subsidies, employment discrimination based on disability, and housing discrimination.The legal team will review the information at a weekly case assessment meeting. They will evaluate whether your request is within their case selection criteria, whether the case has merit, and whether they have enough resources to give you the type of help you're seeking.

- or lack of other item(s) that, if providing this service will keep the child in the family's care or, if the child is already in DCFS custody, will help the child return home.

If eligible, families may receive the following services:

- Public Aid/TANF and other cash grants.
- Housing Advocacy Program (HAP) - helping families obtain permanent housing.
- Emergency Cash Assistance Program for basic needs. Not intended as ongoing subsidy, but only provided when it would prevent the removal of children by DCFS or allow the children to be returned home from DCFS placement.

Mobile Young Adult Guardianship Project - Center for Disability and Elder Law - Main Location

The Young Adult Guardianship project is designed for families with children who live with a permanent disability who are transitioning to adulthood upon their 18th birthdays. CDEL representatives go into the community to assist families with completing the necessary paperwork to file for guardianship of the person. CDEL representatives also fully represent eligible clients in the guardianship process.

Guardianship Assistance | DayOne PACT

Guardian services for eligible persons, including children with disabilities and seniors living with dementia. Under court appointment, provider may act as guardian of the person, estate, or both. As guardian, provider will make substitute decisions for the individual and provide communication to the individual, her/his family and the providers involved. No fees for initial intake.
