Northwest Compass provides housing and supportive services to help unaccompanied young adults prepare for life's challenges and navigate crisis. They offer services that aim to break the cycle of poverty for the unseen and often stigmatized population of unaccompanied young adults aged 18-24.

GENERAL ASSISTANCE | ALGONQUIN TOWNSHIP

Provides monthly financial assistance to persons who do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their own basic needs. Funds may be disbursed for specific basic maintenance needs such as shelter (rental/mortgage assistance), utilities, food, clothing, household supplies, personal essentials, and laundry.

General Assistance eligibility is re-determined monthly, by appointment, and as long as the recipient maintains his/her eligibility, they may continue to receive a monthly General Assistance grant.

St. Vincent de Paul Parish's Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry and Sandwich Kitchen is open 4 days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. They also provide hygiene kits, socks, underwear, gloves, and hats to their guests. Volunteers include parishioners, DePaul students, faculty and staff, and others from the neighborhood.

Prairie Trails Public Library offers a small cupboard that is stocked solely by community donations. They typically have cereal, canned goods, and pasta. Anyone can donate by placing non-perishable food items and toiletries into the pantry. Visitors are welcome to take what they need. The pantry is accessible during library hours.
