Eligibility

Individuals who are identified as indigent based on their income, assets and liabilities; Public defender services not available to those facing village ordinances or petty traffic offenses that do no warrant incarceration (jailing).

(1) Public Defenders will be provided to eligible individuals by Court Order (2) Representation begins only after: the accused person requests the appointment of counsel by the Court; the individual is proven to be indigent by filing an affidavit of assets and liabilities; Court provides a written order directing the individual to be represented
